World Islamic Economics & Finance Conference (WIEFC 2026)

Conference Theme:

“Envisioning the Next Frontier in Islamic Economics & Finance: AI Transformation and Geopolitical Realignments”

The 9th World Islamic Economic Forum Conference (WIEFC) 2026 invites scholars, practitioners, policymakers, and students to critically evaluate the evolving trajectory of Islamic Economics and Finance in an era marked by rapid global transformation. As artificial intelligence (AI) accelerates, geopolitical realignments intensify, and protectionist trade policies reshape economic priorities, financial systems, and governance structures, Islamic economics and finance stand at a decisive crossroads. Building upon the insights from previous WIEFC conferences (2018–2025), this year’s theme examines whether current theoretical and practical developments remain authentically aligned with foundational Islamic principles while adapting to modern complexities. The conference will explore how Muslim-majority countries can navigate external disruptions and internal socio-economic challenges by developing Islamic financial systems that are technologically agile, geopolitically aware, and ethically grounded. Key discussions will address the Islamization of national economies, the future of the Islamic finance industry within shifting global frameworks, and the strategic steps required to build resilient, inclusive, and value-driven financial architectures capable of advancing shared prosperity across the Islamic world and beyond. In particular, the conference will address questions and topics such as:

Sub-Themes:

  1. Banking on the Future: Islamic Banking and Fintech Innovations in Global Realignment
  2. Ethical AI Governance and Maqāṣid Integration in Islamic Economic Systems
  3. AI and Islamic Macroeconomics: Policy Responses to Geopolitical Realignments
  4. Sustainable Finance: ESG-AI Convergence in Islamic Financial Instruments
  5. Adaptive Takaful Models: AI-Enabled Risk Management amid Geopolitical Shifts
  6. Shaping Islamic Capital Markets with AI Analytics in a Multipolar World
